Creating a Family Emergency Plan

A disaster is a devastating event that causes significant loss of life, physical damage, or hardship. Because many disasters come without warning, it's important to plan in advance what your family members should do during an emergency.

Your family disaster plan needs to answer each of the following questions:

  • What are your family's disaster risks?
  • What can your family do to prepare for each type of a disaster?
  • How can your family members communicate with each other, either directly or through a relative or friend, after a disaster strikes?
  • How can your family recover from a disaster?

The above links will help answer each of these questions.
